CAD Model

These were the solid works files that were used to send to the laser cutter as a DXF file in 2 and 3 mm thickness mild steel sheet metal.

developement

I played with some 3 mm sheet metal to see what size hole could give a tight fit to the nozzle a 7 mm hole held it well and the cad model can be started and refined for  a laser cut.

1:1 Model

I wanted to see whether the dispensers could hold a persons weight and if the were comfortable to sit on. I marked out a grid with one millimeter either side of the dispensers. I found that they were a bit close and it was better when some were taken out which gave it a more cushion type feeling. It was almost like a massage when sat on which was pritty cool. In the final design i will place them further apart.

More quick brainstorm sketches

The Material

I have decided to use what is thought to be moisteriser dispenser lids. my original concepts had become less about the recycled materials and what they can do and more about design that would be complex to create to work. These dispensers will provide a spring type cushion when sat on a good appearance, the design will be about the material to better meet the design brief requirements.
